Greenwood, SC, the Gem of Upstate South Carolina

Greenwood is the hub of a seven county region which comprises South Carolina’s freshwater coast, filled with lakes—and for us, Lake Greenwood.   Located in Upstate South Carolina, Greenwood offers classic Southern charm in a friendly, small-town setting.  But don’t let that fool you!  Greenwood offers the attributes of a much larger city as the home to Lander University, Self Regional Healthcare, Clemson Genetics Center, schools, churches, cultural opportunities and much, much more.  Greenwood’s population of 70,000 is rapidly expanding as are the numerous employment opportunities here among dozens of Fortune 500 companies that have chosen to locate in our community.

In Uptown Greenwood  you’ll find unique restaurants, retail shops and galleries. Uptown is also home to the Arts Council of Greenwood, The Museum and the Greenwood Community Theater. These three cultural organizations highlight the newly formed Emerald Triangle Arts & Cultural District in Uptown. From April through October, Uptown Greenwood comes alive with entertainment at a variety of outdoor venues including the annual South Carolina Festival of Discovery and the South Carolina Festival of Flowers.

Greenwood’s climate is conducive to year-round outdoor activity.  It’s mild and seasonable, with an average temperature of 68 degrees. While the summers can be warm, the spring and fall are filled with long days of sunshine and beautiful Carolina blue skies.  Winters in Greenwood are comfortable.  You can break out your cozy sweaters and boots—but we only get a dusting of snow every now and again.
